OUR KITCHEN

Sisterhood Sit-In transforms digital spaces into sanctuaries of Black women's power. Drawing from our foremothers' kitchen table activism, we build technological infrastructure for collective liberation. Through Digital Kitchen and innovative platforms, we ensure Black women's voices shape the future of technology while preserving our cultural legacy. Our mission combines ancestral wisdom with digital innovation to create economic sovereignty and sustainable community power.

In the heart of 2020, amidst global upheaval and the height of the pandemic, The Cook Sisters sparked the extraordinary Sisterhood Sit-In as a call to "Serve and Protect" one another. This was their answer to the shadows of racism and misogyny, transforming protest into a celebration of strength and unity. Gathering over a thousand supporters under the rain, they didn't just seek community protection; they created a revolution, uniting voices in a poetic stand for sisterhood and justice, resonating beyond the moment.

Sisterhood Sit-In Trolley Tours

The Sisterhood Sit-In Trolley Tours, known affectionately as the Rebel Rides, has resounded tribute to Black womanhood, empowering and uplifting our sisters' achievements across Philadelphia. Over four vibrant seasons, this nationwide movement has celebrated Black female entrepreneurship by stopping at Black women-owned gems throughout Philadelphia, drawing in over 2000 supporters from 27 states. The tours generated undeniable buzz, garnered acclaim from local and national media, and significantly boosted business for all partners involved. Our final season, themed "Sitting Pretty," spanned generations from boomers to Gen Alpha, connecting stories that honored the wisdom of elders, the resilience of middle generations, and the vibrancy of youth. Collaborating with Philadelphia’s Visitors Center, each tour, led by the dynamic STARFIRE offered a soulful journey through iconic locales like Reading Terminal and The Northern Liberties, aboard the eco-friendly Philly Phlash Bus. Though this chapter closes, the legacy of the Sisterhood Sit-In Trolley Tours will continue to inspire as a powerful narrative of community, celebration, and empowerment.

At Sisterhood Sit-In, we're building a movement that transforms kitchen table wisdom into digital age power. Inspired by The Sisterhood of 1977, where Black women writers gathered in Brooklyn to change American literature, we're creating spaces where Black women's collective power shapes tomorrow's technology.
